EU direct funds: Italy at the first place

Italy ranks first in the number of institutions and companies that benefit from EU funds, paid directly by the European Commission in the form of contracts and grants. This is what emerges from a study of Belgian-Italian Chamber of Commerce. In 2011, companies and Italian institutions receiving fundings directly from Brussels were nearly 7,000, far surpassing France (5,200), Germany (4,800) and the UK (4,600). The study has been developed analysing official documentation of the European Commission.
