The event
The Italian Chamber of Commerce in Belgium is organising the webinar “Digital Rights and Data Protection: Introduction to Digital Rights, Personal Data Protection, Online Privacy, and Responsible Behaviour”.
The digital transformation is creating new and unexpected growth and development opportunities for citizens, businesses, and institutions. At the same time, it raises sensitive issues regarding personal data protection, online privacy, and the responsible use of digital technologies. In this context, promoting awareness of digital rights and responsibilities is essential to ensure a safe, inclusive, and trustworthy digital environment.
During the day of online meetings, these topics will be explored by Valda Beizitere, Legal and Policy Officer at the European Commission-DG JUST, together with Joanna Juzak, Policy Officer at the European Commission-DG CNECT and Simeon de Brouwer, Policy Advisor at EDRi.

In particular, they will address the fundamental principles underpinning digital rights and data protection in the European context, sharing knowledge, perspectives and practical guidance on the aspects that most directly affect the online lives of European citizens.
They will explore the content of European initiatives aimed at promoting a safe digital ecosystem, including through rules on personal data protection, online privacy and age verification tools.
They will thereby clarify the role of digital rights in contemporary society in fostering responsible digital citizenship, as well as the risks and opportunities associated with the growing use of digital technologies.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is mandatory by 1 July 2026.
The webinar will be held in English on the Zoom platform. The access link will be sent to registered participants only the day before the event.
