Bernard Snoy
Visiting Professor at the Institute for European Studies of UCLouvain
Bernard Snoy is a Visiting Professor at the Institute for European Studies of the Université Catholique de Louvain, where he has taught courses on the European Union’s enlargement policy and on the EU’s response to the economic and financial crisis.
Throughout his academic and institutional career, he has organised international conferences dedicated to Europe, its values and the role of intellectuals in the European debate. He also regularly teaches at the Université des Aînés on European topics.
He is Honorary President of the European League for Economic Cooperation, a pro-European movement active in several countries, and President of the International Robert Triffin Association, based in Louvain-la-Neuve, which promotes the intellectual legacy of the Belgian-American economist Robert Triffin.
In the past, he was Chief of Staff to Finance Minister Philippe Maystadt, taking part in the negotiations of the Maastricht Treaty. He has also held senior positions at the World Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.
